Bulgarian Federation of Radio Amateurs (BFRA) is pleased to invite ARDF teams, individual competitors and visitors from IARU Region 1 as well as guests from all over the world to
17th IARURegion 1 ARDF Championships to be held in Obzor, Bulgaria in September 2009. The accommodationand all the meetings have been arranged to take place in
Hotel Miramar (www.miramar-bg.com).
BFRA is proud to host that event in a jubilee year marking
50 years ARDF activity in Bulgaria (1959 – 2009).
Applications for participation
Numbers of teams have already declared their intention to participate, as it wasrequested in
Bulletin No 1. IT IS NOT LATE any other teams, individuals or visitors to apply
for
participation but organizers need their Letter of Intent as soon as possible.
(see Bulletin No 1 ).
Visa requirement
The citizens of majority countries, expected to take part in the Championships, do no need visa to enter Bulgaria. Those who need are listed bellow:
Albania, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Macedonia,
Moldova, Mongolia, Russia, Serbia, and Ukraine.
Please advise the organizers by e-mail to bfra_hq@hotmail.com as soon
as possible if you need official invitation or any other assistance.
Expected number participants in each category
According to IARU Region 1 Rules for Championships in ARDF up to 3 (three) competitors in
each of the following categories are

Payment
There are lot of options depending on the status of the participants, needs of
accommodation/full board/transfer, and date of payment.
All the prices are given in Bulletin No 1.
Accommodation prior and post
Championships in the same hotel is also available upon request for
Euro 42,
- per person per day. You are kindly advised to use the advantages
of the
Reduced Fee. For that purpose your transfer shall reach the organizers’
bank account till 30 June 2009. When transferring the amount, please advice
the organizers about its purpose as follows:

Those who fail to transfer
the amount till 30 June 2009 shall be charged the Standard Fee (see Bulletin No 1).

Technical parameters of the equipment
3.5 MHz RF power: 3 W;
Frequencies: MOE-MO5 3585 kHz, Beacon 3515 kHz;
Antenna: Vertical 8 meters long;
Grounding: Spice 50 centimeters long.
144 MHz RF power: 1 W;
Frequencies: MOE-MO5 144625 kHz, Beacon 144075 kHz;
Antenna: Crossed Dipole 2.5 meters above the terrain.
Marking devices
Sport Ident system will be used.
Terrain
Both terrains are located within 50-km range.
They are mid-difficult, relatively
flat, with small hills,
covered with deciduous forest. Relatively dense net of
country tracks and paths is available on
both terrains. But deep gullies and
gorges at some places and some isolated difficult to pass areas
shall be expected, too. No hazardous areas.
Maps
The maps for both competitions will be IOF standard, A4 size (210 x 297 mm), scale 1:15000, contour interval 5 meters. A sample of a map is shown bellow.

Opportunities for training
A number of trainings on both bands will be organized during the period 9-15 September in the
vicinity of Obzor (but away from the competition terrains).
There are several options:
- to use the
period of World HST Championship and apply for accommodation
and full board in
the same hotel for the whole period
(see Bulletin No 1 – Additional opportunities);
- to apply for accommodation and full board in the same hotel for part of the
period for Euro 42.- per person per day;
- to apply for accommodation and full board in a cheaper hotel
(organized by BFRA) for Euro 25.- per person per day.
In all the cases above an additional fee for each training Euro 5.- will be due.
Amateur Radio Station
An amateur radio station with special call sign LZ17ARDF will be at disposal
of the licensed radio amateurs during the days of the Championships. CEPT
license is required to operate.
Excursion on the day off
An excursion to Nessebar will be organized on the day off (19 September).
Nessebar (35 km apart from Obzor) is a town with huge historical heritage,
included in the UNESCO’s
List of Cultural Heritage, and in the same time one
of the best Bulgarian sea resorts. Visiting the Archaeological Museum, numerous
historical churches and spending an hour or more on the
beach is a must.
Important notes
1. BFRA would like to remind all societies which have not yet sent their LETTER OF INTENT (see Bulletin No 1) that the Championships will be
held during the vacation season when
all the hotel reservations must be
made in advance. Therefore BFRA will consider all late entries
with a
willingness to help but without any guarantee that they will be satisfied
and participants accepted.
2. All the additional information and next Bulletins will be distributed only tosocieties that have responded and only to the contact person regarding
the Championships. The information will also
be available on the website
